What You Can Expect From Medical Weight Loss

You eat right. You exercise regularly. But you just can’t seem to lose those last few stubborn inches. At Peak Medical Clinic in Medford, OR, we’d like you to know that you’re not alone. Today, we’re discussing what you can expect from medical weight loss.

What Is Medical Weight Loss?

Medical weight loss refers to a weight loss program supervised by a physician who specializes in weight loss. Such programs use proactive management of diet, fitness and other lifestyle changes to facilitate weight loss when you can’t do it on your own. These programs may offer meal plans for diets you’ve heard of.

The truth is, these programs work. They are supervised by a certified physician and based in science. Weight loss is nothing more than consuming fewer calories than your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE). At Peak Medical Clinic in Medford, OR, we offer several diets for you to choose from that will fit your lifestyle and culinary preferences. If you like bacon cheeseburgers with mayonnaise and fries, we will work out a keto meal plan that fits into your daily calorie budget.

Specialized Diet Plans for Medical Weight Loss

At Peak Medical Clinic in Medford, OR, we offer several diets to help you lose those last stubborn inches. These include the ketogenic diet, the HCG diet, the body analysis diet, and the slim diet.

Ketogenic Diet

The ketogenic diet is one of the best things you can do for your health: if you can stick to it honestly. The premise of this diet is to consume very few carbs and plenty of fats. People who “go keto” find that they stay fuller on fewer calories for longer than when on the Atkins diet (high-protein, low-carb). But the magic of the ketogenic diet comes from ketosis.

How Does Keto Work?

You probably know that your body stores excess calories as fat to be consumed for fuel in “lean” periods. What many people don’t know is that your body also stores some of the carbs you eat as glycogen for fast fuel to burn. When you reduce your carbohydrate intake, your body goes into ketosis, a state of burning fat for fuel instead of carbs.

Types of Keto

There are four primary types of keto. The SKD, or standard ketogenic diet, consists of the following macro breakdown – 75% fat, 20% protein and 5% carbs. The CKD, or cyclical ketogenic diet, involves five keto days followed by two high-carb days. This gives your brain a break from restriction and makes you more likely to stick to the diet.

The TKD, or targeted ketogenic diet, may be the most popular variation of this diet. It allows for higher-carb feeds around cardio workouts. Finally, the high-protein ketogenic diet allows you to consume 35% of your calories from protein, 60% of your calories from fat and 5% of your calories from carbohydrates.

HCG Diet

The HCG diet is a near mirror opposite of the ketogenic diet. If the thought of eating fats all day makes you queasy, the HCG diet may be for you. This diet is broken down into three phases, but the bottom line is it consists of very little fat and very few calories.

How Does the HCG Diet Work?

HCG, also known as human chorionic gonadotropin, is also known as the pregnancy hormone. Typically used to identify pregnancy in urine tests and treat infertility in men and women, researchers have recently discovered that this hormone revs your metabolism like no other hormone.

Phases of the HCG Diet

The first phase of the HCG diet is known as the “loading phase”. Start taking your HCG supplement and eat lots of high-fat, high-calorie foods for two days. Then you will begin the second phase, called the “weight loss phase”. Continue taking your human chorionic gonadotropin supplement while eating only 500 calories per day. You will stay in this phase for three to six weeks depending on how much weight you’re looking to lose.

After three to six weeks, you will enter the third and final phase of the HCG diet. Stop taking your HCG supplement and increase your food intake gradually. After avoiding sugar and starch for the first three weeks, you can go back to your regular diet of sensibly portioned meals. If you haven’t lost enough weight yet, start the diet over from the loading phase.

Body Analysis Diet

Our body analysis diet is unique in that it gives you a customized diet based on your current body composition and health metrics and your goal body composition. Whether you want to burn fat, build muscle or both, we will give you the exact macronutrients you need to hit every day to achieve your goal within your desired time frame.

Even better, we will give you a personalized meal plan and tailored workouts to help you reach those goals if you follow the program completely. To learn more about the body analysis diet, schedule your initial consultation today.

Slim Diet

The Slim Diet Plan is one of the most effective and popular weight loss programs currently on the market. If you stick to this diet, you can lose 20 pounds in just seven or eight weeks. This diet is so effective because it’s so convenient. The stars of this diet are the slim bars, slim snacks, slim juices and slim replacement meals that are healthy, nutritious and keep you feeling full while fueling your body for its next workout.

How Many Calories Can I Eat on the Slim Diet?

The slim diet involves replacing two of your meals with slim products of 500 to 700 calories. When you look at the nutritional information for a fast-food restaurant, be it for breakfast or lunch, it’s easy to see how these two simple changes will help you shred fat quickly.

Portion Control

Unlike the HCG diet, the slim diet involves four steps. The first is portion control. Most diets fail because they are too restrictive for people to stick to. The slim diet has you eating pretty much whatever you want as long as your portions are reasonable. Aim to eat six small meals per day or three small meals daily with three snacks. This will keep your blood glucose levels stable and ensure you have the fuel necessary for your workouts.

Eat Healthy Meals

The second step in this diet program is eating sensibly. Learn to love nutritious foods that leave you feeling full, energized and healthy. The healthier you eat, the clearer your skin will be and the more aesthetically appealing your body will be.

Exercise Regularly

The third step in this diet is regular physical activity. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends you perform at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise every week.

To mix things up, feel free to perform 50 minutes of vigorous exercise and 30 minutes of moderate exercise or a similar combination. The bottom line is that exercise is great for your metabolism and even better for your mood and organ health.

Surround Yourself With a Strong Support System

The fourth and final step of the slim diet is where we come in. It’s all about support. We will customize your meal plan to work around any health restrictions you may currently have. No matter what you are struggling with on your weight loss journey, we are here to help you succeed.

How Does a Weight Loss Clinic Help You Lose Weight?

The vast majority of people can’t lose weight on their own. Even if they understand the basics, they don’t have the support team in place to help them when they struggle. That’s what medical weight loss offers you. At Peak Medical Clinic in Medford, OR, our trained experts are dedicated to giving you every resource you need to succeed. These include meal plans, workout plans and weight loss supplements.

What to Expect on Your First Visit

During your initial consultation, we will conduct a complete medical examination to assess your current health. Then, we will perform a complete body composition analysis to get a baseline of where you’re starting from. Next, we will perform a needs and risk assessment analysis.

Once we understand your current health and goals, we will draw up a nutrition and exercise counseling plan. Depending on your current eating habits, we may offer you supplements for energy, cravings and appetite and recommend prescription medication to help you lose weight. We will also run a full blood panel to check hormone levels, thyroid health and more. This allows us to tailor your treatment to give you the most effective results.

What Can I Expect During Follow-Up Visits?

At Peak Medical Clinic in Medford, OR, we hold you accountable for your progress. This starts with taking your weight and measurements. We will calculate your body mass index, which will indicate if you’re at risk for developing obesity-related medical conditions. Then, we will perform a body composition analysis to see if you’re losing the right kind of weight.

The number on the scale doesn’t tell the whole story. Losing muscle because you’re starving yourself will wreak havoc on your metabolism. On the other hand, even if you plateau on the scale, you may be holding onto water weight while building calorie-torching muscle.

Plan Efficacy Evaluation

Once all the measurements and analysis are out of the way, we will review your personalized fitness plan, including cardio and weight-bearing exercises to help keep you healthy. We will check your blood pressure and review your diet log and exercise journal for the past month to account for any unexpected results. We will analyze your activities to help you identify problem areas, such as triggers for emotional eating or reasons why you “can’t” work out.

Supplements

Finally, you will have the opportunity to opt for B-6/B-12 injections to boost your overall energy levels and metabolism. We also offer dietary supplements to improve your mood, increase your energy, and curb your appetite and cravings.

Supplements for Weight Loss

We offer over half a dozen supplements for weight loss. After your health screening, we will help you determine which, if any, are right for you. For clients with a damaged liver, we strongly recommend Liver C. This supplements supports liver metabolism, an essential component of your lymphatic system, and treats the symptoms of fatty liver disease.

Metabolic Support

For clients struggling with focus and energy, we offer sublingual B12 drops that help to keep your energy levels high. To support liver function and rev your metabolism, we proudly offer LipoSlim. This capsule is taken twice a day and boosts your body’s ability to burn fat drastically.

Our 7 Daily Metabolism Packets are a combination of supplements that are taken throughout the day and manage everything from deep sleep and good mood to minimizing cravings and reducing your appetite. Finally, we are proud to offer a Yeast Balance Complex to feed the healthy bacteria in your gut and support a healthy metabolism.

Balance Docs Energy

BalanceDocs Energy is recommended for clients who want to increase their energy levels but don’t want the crash associated with overstimulation. It is outstanding for the correction of overeating caused by fatigue. Chronic sleep deprivation often leads to exhaustion and binging on high volumes of empty calories to temporarily boost energy levels.

This supplement supports the function of your adrenal gland, as hyperactivity in the adrenal gland causes the stress which leads to emotional eating. More importantly, BalanceDocs Energy reduces overall appetite to help you curb cravings.

Balance Docs Craving

BalanceDocs Craving is designed to minimize cravings for starches, such as flour and sugar, when taken twice per day. It also boosts the level of norepinephrine in your brain, which improves your mood and eliminates the “need” for emotional eating.

Treatments for Weight Loss

Coolplas

At Peak Medical Clinic Medford, OR, we are proud to offer Coolplas in addition to our supplements and injections for medical weight loss. This non-invasive fat reduction treatment combines controlled pressure with state-of-the-art cooling to target and eliminate stubborn fat. The problem with weight loss is that you can’t spot-treat where you lose fat. With Coolplas, you can.

Does the Cold Hurt?

This pain-free treatment requires no anesthesia, analgesics, recovery or downtime. You can go straight back to your daily life once your treatment is complete. The best part about this treatment, besides targeting your trouble areas specifically, is that once the cold destroys your fat cells, they are processed by your lymphatic system.

Results develop gradually over the course of two to four months, so it looks like you’re losing weight in your hips, stomach or buttocks through hard work. Each treatment can eliminate between 20 and 40% of fat cells, and trouble areas can be treated quarterly.

How Long Does Coolplas Take?

This 40-minute cold therapy stimulates your body’s natural production of collagen, which tightens, smooths and rejuvenates your skin. You won’t have to worry about fat loss resulting in loose, sagging or old-looking skin. You’ll look younger than you have in years! Even better, our clients report that the cold therapy is very relaxing, and the cold even boosts your body’s metabolism.
